We are happy to present “Catch” – a soloshow by artist Ole Tersløse. The show featuring large inkjet prints and 3d-printed sculptures by Tersløse is concerned with questions regarding man and nature. Tersløse reactivates old myths in his haunting computer generated imagery and challenge us to ponder our own relationship to nature.
Nb. Because of the current corona-pandemic the dates may be changed!
We are proud to announce that we will be opening the season 2020 with the exhibition “The Square Root of Nature” by Jacob Juhl.
The Exhibition will turn the gallery space into one large installation – a black and white forrest inhabited by weird tech-creatures. Check out Jacobs webpage https://www.jacobjuhl.dk/the-square-root-of-nature
This year we are presenting ceramics by Janus Simmelsgaard, computer manipulated images by Ole Tersløse and photographs by Jacob Juhl – Ole and Jacob will both be presenting soloshows in our gallery on 2020.
Lene Desmentik is educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and she is represented by Charlotte Fogh Gallery www.charlottefogh.dk with whom we have been collaborating regarding the exhibition.
Lene is a prolific artist working with various materials. Often her work touches upon issues like identity and the concept of borders – be they physical, psychological or philosophical ones. The show “Sporskifte” takes as its vantage point the transformation of the harbor-area where the gallery is located.
Mark Tholander graduated from “Det Jyske Kunstakademi” (The Jutland Academy of fine Arts) in 2019. The exhibition “He plays for the customers” showed examples of his imaginative, surreal and subtly ironic videos.
Karen Havskov Jensen is a Danish artist working i the field of textile sculpture. Her art is often concerned with bodily experience, representation and identity – the exhibition “Mønsterbrug” however also dealt with another theme much favored by the artist, namely the relation between past and present in the Danish countryside.
At the “Christmas Show” we will be presenting works by the Danish artist Benjamin Nordsmark. The artist, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, has got a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Art, but has also been educated as a cabinetmaker.
At the “Christmas Show” we will also be presenting new ceramics by co-owner of the gallery JanusSimmelsgaard. Janus Simmelsgaard has got a BA i design from the Design School Kolding.
August 18th we opened our very first exhibition at HOEJBJERG & SIMMELSGAARD. The exhibition presents works by Klavs Weiss and Morten Gersager Abel, respectively.
Klavs Weiss has developed an exhibition in our main gallery revolving around his piece “Wavy Bench” while Morten Gersager Abel is exhibiting his works in our side gallery.
Check out “Wavy Bench” here:
Morten Gersager Abel often creates his pieces from old vinyl flooring and wallpaper simulating wood. His pieces again on their side simulate “real” objects; crates, boxes, ladders etc. but are in fact flat, 2-dimensional objects defying any practical use.
Morten Gersager Abel is associated with Galerie Pi, where you can see more of his work. Check out:
